Robyn’s Egg Blue is the dream of a mother. Taught to embroider at an early age by a grandmother, Karen Platner has expanded her skill by self exploration. Introduced to smocking by her sister-in-law who was creating a dress for her daughter's first birthday, Karen decided to teach herself to smock when pregnant with her first child. This beautiful form of handwork so captured her needle that Karen spent many years teaching countless women the basics of English Smocking. A short stint into pattern creation and many years designing and creating custom garments led her to this point - the creation of a small line of made to order children’s clothing. Keen on detail, each garment is handled in a “bespoke” method. Made with French seams, lined bodices, 4” deep hems and exquisite detail, every garment is hand crafted with the greatest care by Karen and her small staff in northern California. A Robyn’s Egg Blue garment is destined to be an heirloom.
